    I always took a certain amount of offense to “the sheep analogy” but as far as animal comparisons go, we could do a lot worse.
    Sheep at the least have functional long-term memories. For instance, older sheep are easier to shear because they know what the deal is and that there going to lose their wool one way or another and it’s less painful to go with the flow–hooray for 4-H trivia!
    There are sheep that are simply trapped through beatings and vicious dogs; but I would at least like to believe that a competent shepherd is more able to convince the sheep that he has their best interest at heart and they follow for that reason.
    Albeit that mentioning lambchops or rack-of-lamb complicates the issue, but that’s my optimistic perspective from a slightly agricultural upbringing.
