We are collecting toys this holiday season for children with HIV/AIDS and for children of parents with HIV/AIDS. The drive is in cooperation with Gay Men’s Health Crisis http://www.gmhc.org/.
We will start collecting toys at Pete’s Candy Store next Sunday at service and will continue for a few weeks after that. We ask that if you intend to donate, that you do it early in order to enable GMHC to distribute the toys well in advance of holidays. PLEASE ONLY BRING THE TOYS TO SERVICE AT 4 ON SUNDAYS. Pete’s Candy Store cannot serve as the drop location.
We are looking for toys for children between the ages of 5 and 12. GMHC encourages you to consider educational toys. Suggested price range is between $10-35. Please refrain from buying from dollar stores because these toys fall apart. For many of these kids it will be the only gift the receive this season, so please be thoughtful in your choice of toys.

Hey everyone, this is Rayné. I am the one in charge of/heading up this toy drive this year.
We also ask that you do NOT wrap the gifts. We need to be able to see what the toy(s) are so that we can insure that they are given to a child of the appropriate gender and age.

If you already have toys that you want to donate, I would suggest finding an organization in need nearby you- only because shipping toys to us here in NY could be costly. If you would like to donate money to this cause, let us know and we’ll make sure it gets a child in need a toy this holiday. Thanks for asking!
