Dear friends,

The destruction that has devastated Haiti has been heavy in our hearts the last couple of weeks. Like all of us, I have been watching the news reports in disbelief. I can’t help but believe that God is with the people of Haiti and in fact was crushed with them, and is now living among them, suffering with them, crying with them.

We are the hands and feet of God here on Earth, and we are called to minister to those in need. I know many of you have already heard the call, and are doing all you can. I would like to suggest two more ways you can help.

Through Tony and Bart Compollo, I have had the chance to meet some leaders involved in two organizations that have been very active in Haiti before the earthquake, and are working hard in the aftermath of the quake. I urge you to check out both, Beyond Borders, and Haiti Partners.

Through the Evangelical Association for the Promotion of Education a giving page has been set up to collect donations for the work that both of these organizations are doing.

I strongly encourage you to read Kent Annan’s book of his experiences in Haiti.

I also encourage you to sign the petition asking U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, to please work to secure the immediate cancellation of Haiti’s $1 billion debt and ensure that any emergency earthquake assistance is provided in the form of grants, not debt-incurring loans. Sign the petition here.

In GRACE,
Jay Bakker

Happy New Year!

I hope this letter finds you well. I trust that you had a blessed holiday season, filled with joy and reflection.

2009 was a rough year here at Revolution. Like the rest of the world, we struggled financially. The good news is that God made a way and we continue to preach the message of God’s unconditional grace.

I am so thankful for Revolution. As associate pastor, I have had the opportunity to meet so many wonderful people. Real people. With real needs, real passions and real questions.

As you may know, we rely SOLELY on your contributions. We do not have the support of a denomination or foundation. So many of you have supported us and helped to get us to a place of solvency. Thanks you for your continued support!

2010 promises to be an exciting year. We have so many things we want to do. In 2010 we would like to be able to to rent office and meeting space, to make it more conducive for hanging out with folks. We want to improve our online ministry by starting small groups online, and make more opportunities for the online congregation to interact with us. We also want to continue our film series and other education programs.

We ask for your continued support. Please take a moment right now to make a year end tax deductible donation. CLICK HERE to make a donation.

Many blessings to you on the dawn of a new year.

Vince Anderson
Associate Pastor, Revolution NYC
