Dear Friends,
As we look forward to the coming Spring, and the new life that season brings, I wanted to take the time to tell you about a new season in my life, and the exciting changes that it will bring to Revolution Church.
In the coming months, after 6 years in Brooklyn, I will be moving to Minneapolis, Minnesota. I have some exciting opportunities there and decided it was time for a fresh start. I ask for your prayers during this transition. I will be looking to form a new gathering in Minneapolis, and I ask that you spread the word if you know people in the area.
Though there we be a geographic change; the vision, mission, and programing of Revolution NYC will not change. Over the years, we have increasingly become an online ministry through our podcasts and social media sites, as well as providing online pastoral care through Skype and other digital forms. All of this will continue, and in fact we will make strides to provide the online community with even more original content, as well as continue to facilitate community among the online listeners. As we expand this part of our ministry we look to you for your ideas, support, and participation.
My co-pastor, Vince Anderson, will remain on staff in his role as pastoral care minister and will continue to serve as a resource to the online community. He will be meeting with the local members here in Brooklyn, to determine how they would like to proceed.
We believe that this time of transition will make for a more dynamic Revolution Church, and will help us focus and expand our scope and mission. Through this time, we ask for your continued support. Donations can be sent to our Brooklyn office, or online through Paypal. To support Revolution Church click HERE.
On another note, my new book, “Faith, Doubt and Other Lines I’ve Crossed” is now out. I’m really excited about it, and I hope you can read it and let me know what you think!
Thanks in advance for your support through this time of transition and growth!
In Grace,
Jay Bakker

Revolution NYC meets every Sunday at 4 pm, at Pete's Candy Store, 709 Lorimer St., Brooklyn, NY 11211 (map here).
Pastor Jay, as always you are in my prayers and meditations. I wish you much success in the new direction your ministry is taking.
Keep on keepin’ on, man. Excited for the new read! Good for you!
we’re looking forward to having you around our home town!
Good luck. I’ve been listening to Revolution’s online church when you were in Atlanta and then Brooklyn and hopefully now Minneapolis. You should try Austin, TX after that. Better winters.
Joy and goodness to you and the next steps of your pilgrimage. I have grown to respect your unifying and honest voice, Jay. I am grateful to call you a colleague in ministry. Dance in grace – Jes
I wish you the best of luck. The twin cities are great. My company has an office there…sure wish I got there more often.
Wow! That’s big news indeed, Jay. My wife and I LOVED living in the Twin Cities and I hope you will too. If you need some transplanted local perspective, please don’t hesitate to give us a shout.
I make it back there 2-3 times a year and would love to connect at some point.
Best of luck in your endeavors there. Pack your good winter coat, scarf, hat and gloves. You’ll need them. But take comfort in knowing that as tough as winter is, the weather the rest of the year more than makes up for it.
Also, be aware that the culture there is going to be different than what you’re used to. The people are friendly, but reserved. They’re also a lot more passive aggressive. Not in a mean way, but in a way that is different from anywhere else I’ve ever lived. It’s known as “Minnesota Nice” and it will change the way you’ll end up interacting with people. It’s not necessarily better or worse, just different. It can take a while to make friends because people are a little standoffish, but if you understand that going in, you can punch through it just fine. But if you find yourself discouraged early on that you’re not connecting with people as easily or as readily as you’d like, keep that in mind. It’s not you! And you’ll make those connections, it’ll just take longer.
If you’re still interested in old motorcycles (we had an exchange on FB about this some time ago), the scene in MSP is fantastic. Look up the boys at Bluecat Motors in St. Paul and tell them Nathaniel sent you. They’ll definitely help you find your bearings in the area and expose you to all sorts of fun, two-wheeled adventure.
Cheers!

Cool! We welcome you to Minnesota, Jay.
Congratulations Jay! And yes, I agree with Travis. Austin needs a Revolution here.
Congratulations on this new chapter in your life. I continue to hold you and your ministry in prayers. Hoping to see you at Wild Goose again this summer!
Hey Jay,
Ministry is one of the few stations in life where at times when the season is right, or the call is made, you must move to the next opportunity given to you. To you and all of the sojourners out there may God’s grace establish a new season of opportunity of hope.
On a side note, Brenda will be ticked because she really wanted to meet you, but at least your a lot closer to us Midwesterners than before so in this regard hopefully we’ll catch up with you in Minnsota.
To Rev. Vince, no matter what you decide to do with Revolution NYC I hope to see you, Renee and all the gang there again the next time we visit the city.
All the best to all and continued prayer to you!
God bless you and your expanding work, Jay, as well as Vince and the rest of the Revolution team. Minnesota is about to be enriched by your presence, and I, for one’ look forward to whatever you have in store.
Good luck in my home state of Minnesota! Next time I get home for a visit will try to stop by for a visit!
So glad that you’re moving a bit closer!! You know this means your mother’s family will be dropping in on you! Family Reunion is in Warroad June 21st 22nd and the 23rd. I know ones calling is their life, but I look forward to reconnecting with you in the coming months.
NOOOOOOOOOOO! Am I the only selfish one that wants you close by???
Wish you the best of luck dude. I’ve been enjoying the podcast and was looking forward to coming by on the weekend once I was all moved up to McGuire AFB. I’m reading the book now it’s pretty cool. Thanks!
Minneapolis is awesome. St Paul is lovely this time of year. Come and find us at Humble Walk.
Back to Minnesota….your Mom’s home state (International Falls) and home of Mary Tyler Moore Show. I am sure your Mom would be happy and excited you are moving to Minnesota and embarking on this new chapter in your life. God Bless & good Luck. James
Jay….God Bless You and The Best of Luck to you on your newest endeavor..You deserve it! We will continue to keep you in our prayers and thoughts…You are such a special person and we appreciate all that you do! Sincerely, Pasquale Mulei
Back to the land of your ancestors!
PS: Ditto to Travis and his suggestion of Austin. We could use a church like that here.
Jay & Vince, as I was reading this in the early morning hours, my heart almost sank when I read the first paragraphs, and maybe thought this was going to be it for my church. I have been listening for years now every podcast and was even supported by personal messages from Vince when my dad passed away last year. For me, it’s priceless, and as a part of the online community, I’d like to express my deepest gratitude in hope that Revolution will continue for many more years to come. It would also be great to get more involved, though I feel Facebook for me is not the right place to share the most innate feelings.
You are both in my thoughts and prayers, all the best and godspeed for your new endeavors!
Wow! Big news, indeed! I wish you all the best, Jay, in my old hometown.
I’ll be moving back to MN at the end of March as well and eventually probably into Mpls. It’d be nice to meet you and check your org out.
No! Move to Los Angeles!! Just kidding, I wish. No really, good luck with your move to Minneapolis. Hope to be able to hear you continue with your work. It means so very much to me, especially now at this time in my life. Thanks for all you do!!!! Can’t wait to read the new book! Loved the last one! Love & Grace, Livia
Jay, come to Elliot Park and I’ll buy you a burger at The Band Box, the ’30s diner just down the street from the soon-to-be-removed Metrodome. I’m serious. I’ll buy you a burger.
Jay,
Just as we’ve all been blessed to be touched by the light of the Lord’s love through your passion and nurturing attentions, I hope this move allows more to feel the love you’ve opened up to us as it allows you to continue your path of growth and discovery.
God bless you and Vince man, because I’d all but given up on religion because of the greed and the uptight attitudes of the contemporary set. You guys opened my eyes and brought me back towards the edge of the fold (the gospel funk Vince recommended didn’t hurt either).
Grace and love,
Rob
Congratulations on your transition and the new opportunities that await you. When you get to MN, say hi to Prince for me!
Best of luck, my friend.
